Scroll to build

You’re brilliant on the tools.

The business is the bit that’s breaking you.

Nobody ever taught you
the other half of the job.

Pricing. Cashflow. Contracts. Hiring. The numbers.

Taught by a builder
who is still building.

Paul Fitzgerald still runs a £10m+ construction group this week.

Every stage ran in his
own group first.

Ten years. No shortcuts.

Build, then scale.

Twelve months. One focused theme a month. The programme meets you in your phase and carries you into the next.

It’s a sequence.

Everything you need to know is just below.

For trades, builders & contractors

You built the trade. Let’s scale the business.

The honest bit

You’re not stuck because you’re a bad builder. You’re stuck because nobody ever taught you the other half of the job.

Pricing. Cashflow. Contracts. Hiring. The numbers. None of it was on the apprenticeship, and none of it gets easier by working another Saturday. It gets easier when somebody who has already done it shows you the sequence.

“You learned your trade. Nobody taught you how to run the company that came afterwards.”

Taught in the room

Every mistake Paul coaches on, he’s made. Every system he teaches, he runs.

Try it

Most builders don’t have a business.

They have a stressful job with a van. Drag your hours on the tools down and watch what grows around you.

The backbone

Build, then scale.

Every builder we work with is in one of two phases. The programme meets you in yours and carries you into the next.

£0–£2m

The Build Phase

You’re on the tools, or just off them, and the business lives or dies by you. This phase turns the graft into a real, profitable business.

  • Cashflow command and pricing that leaves money behind
  • Getting off the tools without it all falling over
  • Contracts, payment notices and variations that protect you
  • First systems, first key hires
£2m–£5m

The Scale Phase

You’ve built something real. Now it’s about scaling without it growing straight back onto your shoulders.

  • A management layer, so you lead rather than do
  • Systems so it runs the same whether you’re there or not
  • Margin, efficiency and a pipeline you can count on
  • Then the asset, £5m–£10m+: build it and plan the endgame

The programme

Twelve months. Twelve things that change everything.

One focused theme a month. Each comes with a playbook, templates you can use on Monday, and a recorded teardown of a real job: the numbers, the mistakes, and what we’d do differently.

01Cashflow CommandBuild

Never get caught short again. We build your thirteen-week rolling forecast, get a proper grip on what is coming in and going out, and install the cash discipline that stops you lying awake the week before payroll.

Inside the Academy

This isn’t a course.

Courses don’t ring you when you’ve gone quiet. The Academy lives in its own app, built for it: twelve months that open one at a time, the templates that go with them, the teardowns, and a room of builders your size.

On the one-to-one tiers, every month opens from day one because a coach is setting the pace.

A real partnership

What you get from me. What I expect from you.

This only works both ways. Worth knowing before you book anything.

What you get

  1. Straight, honest guidance from someone still running a construction group.
  2. Everything learned the expensive way, organised so you learn it the cheap way.
  3. Real accountability. I’ll hold you to what you said you’d do.
  4. My Trusted Network, and the contacts most builders spend ten years building.
  5. Honesty, including when it isn’t what you want to hear.

What I expect

  1. A genuine twelve-month commitment. This is a system, not a quick fix.
  2. The work between calls, not just turning up to them.
  3. Honesty about your numbers. I can’t fix what you hide.
  4. Ownership. No blaming the market or the team.
  5. The openness to change how you’ve always done it.

The builder behind it

Built by a builder who is still building.

“I came off site at 28 and quickly realised starting a business is a whole different ball game. You have to learn how to be a business owner.”
  1. Age 16Started on site as a carpenter. A bag of tools and everything to learn.
  2. Thirteen yearsOne of the country’s leading prime residential firms. Private jobs in his own time to learn faster.
  3. £20m projectsRunning the kind of homes most people only ever see from the pavement.
  4. At 28Came off site and founded Hawksmoor on one belief: a construction company should build exceptional homes and exceptional people.
  5. TodayA £10m+ group across construction, development and investment. Still on site.
  6. The groupHawksmoor Construction Group, with Hawksmoor Construction London, Hawksmoor Bespoke and Hawksmoor Developments underneath it, alongside Evergreen Property and The Build & Scale Academy.

Somewhere along the way, trades and builders became a target market for coaching gurus: people who’ve never priced a job, chased a retention, or carried a payroll through a wet January.

The Academy is the opposite. It’s part of the Hawksmoor Construction Group, and everything in it is implemented in the group before it’s taught. Every mistake Paul coaches on, he’s made. Every system he teaches, he runs.

The rule

If it doesn’t work on our own sites, it doesn’t get taught.

Asked, answered

The straight answers.

Still not sure? Take the sixty-second quiz or the free scorecard first.

Who is this actually for?

Trades, builders and contractors turning over anywhere up to £10m+. You are good at the work and the phone rings, but the business lives or dies by you, cashflow keeps you up, and growth has meant more stress rather than more freedom.

Who is it not for?

Anyone looking for a quick fix. Anyone who will not be straight about their numbers: I can’t fix what you hide. Anyone who will watch the videos but not do the work between calls. And anyone who thinks the market or the team is the problem. Ownership is the entry requirement.

Aren’t most business coaches people who’ve never run one?

Largely, yes, which is exactly why this exists. The Academy is part of the Hawksmoor Construction Group and I am still running it, this week. If it doesn’t work on our own sites and our own balance sheet, it doesn’t make the curriculum.

I’m too busy to work on the business.

That sentence is the reason you will still be on the tools at sixty. The programme is one theme a month, not a firehose, and the first three modules are the ones that buy you the time to do the rest. Start with the thirteen-week forecast. Twenty minutes a week.

How much time does it take?

A few hours a month on the playbook and templates, plus your calls if you are on a one-to-one tier. The teardowns are thirty-five to forty-five minutes, and you can watch them in the van.

Why is the coaching priced on application?

Because the right level depends on your business, and I would rather have a ten-minute conversation than sell you the wrong tier. The Academy is £249 a month plus VAT, published and fixed. If none of the one-to-one tiers are right for you, I’ll say so.

Why a twelve-month commitment?

Because that is how long it takes. Fixing pricing takes a quarter to show up in the bank. Getting off the tools takes a hire and a system, then another. You can’t skip the foundations.

Is there a limit on places?

On the one-to-one tiers, yes. A real one, not a countdown clock. I only take on a limited number at a time because each one gets proper attention.
